San Diego Bay

Amenities 13 FR 600-406

San Diego is the last port in the Western United States for ships sailing south and the first port for ships sailing north. The atmosphere of this picturesque harbor is greatly enhanced by the fact that the weather is consistently mild.
The bay is protected by a long peninsula, Point Loma, which hooks around the entrance to the bay, sheltering it from the ocean. Home to America's Cup Harbor, San Diego Bay offers boaters a vast array of services and activities. There are numerous slips, marinas, moorings. Boating-repair facilities and marine supply shops are abundant.

Home to the worlds largest year-round sportfishing fleet, San Diego offers enthusiasts a variety of fishing opportunities. From half-day trips to multi-day adventures.
San Diego Bay is surrounded with a huge array of parks, restaurants, businesses and shopping opportunities to accommodate all types of boaters. From the recreational boater to the tourist who arrives on a cruise ship all are welcomed. Since the Bay is an important port for the U.S. Navy, it is common to view enormous ships entering and leaving the harbor.
Those who love maritime history will not want to miss visiting the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Housed aboard the tall ship, Star of India and the ferryboat Berkeley, it is located on the east end of the bay.
